5 Boss moves we learned from Boas on Mpali

Stepping into a leadership role can be tricky, especially when you’re managing people who once worked alongside you. That’s exactly what Boas faced when he became the new manager pafarm on Mpali. From fake emergencies to rebellious strikes, his workers threw every possible challenge his way. Yet, through all the drama, Boas learned some valuable lessons about being a good boss, and now, so can we!

1. Set boundaries early on

Boas’s first mistake? Being too soft. Phil, Cliff, and Future quickly figured out how to take advantage of his kind heart, cooking up all kinds of excuses to skip work, from fake bee stings to imaginary car accidents. What was the lesson here? A good boss sets clear boundaries from the get-go. Your team should know there’s room for kindness but no space for nonsense! ☝🏾

2. Be fair, not fearful

At first, Boas hesitated to take action, worrying he might come across as too harsh. But being a leader means making tough decisions sometimes. When his workers staged a strike for salary increases, Boas after consulting with his sister and Jairos, he eventually stood his ground and handled the situation head-on. A good boss knows that fairness sometimes means saying “no.” 🙅🏾‍♂️

3. Ask for advice when you need it

Believe it or not, bosses need help too! When the pressure got too much, Boas turned to his sister Chipego and her husband Jairos for advice. Their words of wisdom, “Being kind doesn’t mean being weak” helped him regain confidence and approach his workers with a clear plan. Seeking advice shows strength, not weakness, and it’s something every good leader should embrace. 💪🏾

4. Don’t be afraid to take tough action

Boas’s biggest turning point came when he confronted his workers. After all their antics and lack of respect, he decided it was time to fire them. With the farm owner Mwiza backing him up, Boas sent a clear message: leadership is about making decisions that are best for the team, even if they’re not popular. 👀

5. Lead with both heart and strength

Boas’s journey shows us that being a good boss is a balancing act. Yes, kindness is important, but it must be paired with firmness and accountability. A strong leader inspires respect, not by being feared but by showing fairness and consistency.
